  • Tomatoes (Chopped) - 4-5 medium
  • Green chillies (Chopped) - 2 medium
  • Ginger garlic paste - 5 tsp
  • Milk - 1 cup (or more depending on the sweetness you want to keep for the dish)
  • Chicken - 500 gms
Spices
  • Black pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Garam Masala - 2 tbsp
  • Chicken Masala - 2 tbsp
  • Amchoor - 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
  • Jeera powder - 1 tbsp
  • Salt - to taste
Preparation
  • Heat some oil in a pan. Add chopped green chillies and onions to it. Fry them till the onions become golden brown in color
  • Remove the mixture from pan and keep it aside for sometime to let it cool
  • Add tomatoes and fried onions and chillies to a mixer and make a paste of these
  • Add this paste to the same pan and without adding more oil, saute the paste for 10-15 mins. Add ginger garlic paste and saute the mix for about 10-15 minutes more
  • Add the spices listed above and saute till oil begins to separate from the mixture (We saute the mix for such a long time since this helps in adding flavour to the dish, the more you saute the paste, the better flavour and taste you will get out of it.)
  • After that, add the chicken and mix it well with the paste. Do this for about another 10-15 minutes.
  • Add milk to the mixture and stir well so that no lumps are formed. Continue stirring for about 5 minutes. Keep on flame for 2-5 minutes more
  • Butter chicken is ready. Serve hot with rotis
